Το Ίδρυμα Θρακικής Τέχνης και Παράδοσης με την έκδοση του ετήσιου ημερολογίου του για τρίτη χρονιά, φιλοδοξεί να παρουσιάσει ένα ακόμα τμήμα από τους θησαυρούς της Θράκης και την απαράμιλλη ομορφιά τους. "Η Βυζαντινή Θράκη" συμπληρώνει τις δύο πρώτες εκδόσεις με θέματα τη "Φύση της Θράκης" και την "Αρχαία Θράκη". Η σύντομη εισαγωγή από τον καθηγητή βυζαντινολόγο κύριο Χαράλαμπο Μπακιρτζή, περιέχει συμπυκνωμένη την εργασία πολλών ετών ως εφόρου Βυζαντινών αρχαιοτήτων στον χώρο της Θράκης. Ο εικόνες ανήκουν στη συλλογή του Διονυσίου Π. Λοβέρδου (1878-1934), τραπεζίτη καταγόμενου από την Κεφαλονιά. Πρόκειται για μια από τις μεγαλύτερες και αξιολογότερες συλλογές έργων μεταβυζαντινής θρησκευτικής τέχνης στην Ελλάδα. Πυρήνα της αποτέλεσαν οι 200 εικόνες της συλλογής του φιλολόγου Αλεξίου Κολυβά (1848-1915). Μετά το θάνατο του Κολυβά η συλλογή αγοράστηκε από τον Λοβέρδο, ο οποίος, επιδεικνύοντας ζήλο και διαθέτοντας σημαντικά ποσά, την εμπλούτισε και τη στέγασε στη μεγαλοπρεπή κατοικία του στην οδό Μαυρομιχάλη 6, στην Αθήνα.
