Η εθνική ιθαγένεια αποτελεί τον θεσμό με βάση τον οποίο τα κράτη ορίζουν και αναπροσδιορίζουν την ταυτότητά τους ως μια κοινωνία πολιτών, αναγνωρίζοντας τα μέλη τους και διακρίνοντας τους άλλους ως ξένους, με την έννοια του όρου που εύλογα ταυτίζεται με τους αλλοδαπούς. Έκδοση των ανακοινώσεων 24 ειδικών για το έργο του Δομήνικου Θεοτοκόπουλου, στο Συνέδριο που οργανώθηκε τον Σεπτέμβριο του 2005 στο Ρέθυμνο από το Ινστιτούτο Μεσογειακών Σπουδών/ΙΤΕ και το Πανεπιστήμιο Κρήτης. Οι μελέτες εστιάζουν στις τεχνικές αναλύσεις έργων του Θεοτοκόπουλου καθώς και στη σχέση του ζωγράφου με τη γλυπτική. Τα περισσότερα κείμενα είναι εικονογραφημένα με έργα του Θεοτοκόπουλου και άλλων καλλιτεχνών. Στον τόμο δημοσιεύονται επίσης δύο μελέτες αφιερωμένες στη Βάπτιση, έργο που αγοράστηκε πρόσφατα από το Δήμο Ηρακλείου.
