Ο σύντομος αυτός οδηγός ενημερώνει τον αναγνώστη για τις συλλογές του Εθνικού Αρχαιολογικού Μουσείου, για τον πλούτο και την ποικιλία των εκθεμάτων του που καλύπτουν τη μακραίωνη ιστορία του αρχαίου κόσμου. Χωρίς να περιγράφονται και να παρουσιάζονται αναλυτικά τα διάφορα εκθέματα, δημοσιεύονται γενικές πληροφορίες για όλες τις συλλογές και κυρίως για το πώς παρουσιάζονται στις αίθουσες του Μουσείου. Παράλληλα, απεικονίζονται έργα αντιπροσωπευτικά της κάθε συλλογής που μαρτυρούν την καλλιτεχνική ποιότητα και αξία των εκθεμάτων του μεγαλύτερου Μουσείου της Ελλάδας.
