Οι Πατέρες της Εκκλησίας αναλύουν στα κείμενά τους ότι οι "δερμάτινοι χιτώνες", με τους οποίους ενέδυσε ο Θεός τους Πρωτοπλάστους, μετά την πτώση τους, είναι η φθαρτότητα, η παθητότητα και η θνητότητα, που συνδέονται με την γέννηση, τις ασθένεις, τα γηρατειά και τον θάνατο. Στο βιβλίο αυτό παρουσιάζονται μικρές απόψεις για το πώς αντιμετωπίζει ο άνθρωπος μέσα στην Εκκλησία τα προβλήματα που συνδέονται με τους "δερμάτινους χιτώνες" και πώς αποκτά αίσθηση της ζωής της αθανάτου με την γλυκύτητα της γνώσεως του Θεού.

"Μετά την επισκοποίησή μου δεχόμουν ερωτήσεις από δημοσιογράφους για ποικίλα, εκκλησιαστικά και κοινωνικά θέματα. Τα άρθρα που δημοσιεύονται στον παρόντα τόμο είναι παρεμβάσεις σε εκκλησιαστικά και κοινωνικά γεγονότα της εικοσαετίας 1995-2015. Ο τίτλος του βιβλίου "Πραγμάτων έλεγχος" αποτυπώνει την κριτική εξέταση και την διάγνωση των γεγονότων της περιόδου αυτής. Η στάση του συγγραφέα απέναντι στα "πράγματα" είναι κριτική, αλλά όχι ελεγκτική ή απορριπτική. Τα άρθρα που συγκεντρώθηκαν στον τόμο αυτό αντιμετωπίζουν τη σύγχρονη εκκλησιαστική και κοινωνική πραγματικότητα με θετικό και δημιουργικό τρόπο.
