Η μετάφραση ποίησης όπως αυτή του Καβάφη σε μια ακόμα γλώσσα, κινεί την περιέργεια, αν όχι το ενδιαφέρον, και προβληματίζει για το σκόπιμο ή όχι του κάθε παρόμοιου νέου εγχειρήματος. Η επανειλημμένη όμως προσπάθεια στην ίδια γλώσσα (στην περίπτωση του Καβάφη την αποκλειστικότητα φαίνεται να έχει η αγγλική) μοιάζει με εξατομικευμένη ενέργεια ενός εκάστου μεταφραστή, μια πρωτοβουλία που τον αφορά αποκλειστικά, ενώ ήδη κυκλοφορούν άλλες δημοσιευμένες με την ενδυμασία της γλώσσας αυτής.
