Η παρούσα έκδοση επιχειρεί να παρουσιάσει τη μορφολογική εξέλιξη της ταφικής γλυπτικής, από την εμφάνισή της στον ελληνικό χώρο -αρχές του 19ου αιώνα- έως το 1940, εντάσσοντάς την στο σύνολο της νεοελληνικής όσο και της ευρωπαϊκής γλυπτικής, καθώς και να αναδείξει την αισθητική αξία αυτής της κατηγορίας καλλιτεχνικής έκφρασης.

The fourth book in the series "Orthodox Psychotherapy" publishes the basic points of discussions which the author had with a group of Christians, members of a Parish. The introduction to the book records a few details about those taking part in the discussions and characteristic features of their personalities. The discussion leads to a shared realisation that many people today, although they believe in God and want to follow the genuine way of life offered by the Church, nevertheless remain uncured in their souls because they do not know how to be healed.

This is the author's first book and has a distinguished place among all his writings because of its wide circulation. It is already in its eighteenth edition – the first having been published in 1978 - and has been translated into ten foreign languages up until now. Στο Α΄ Συνέδριο των Ελλήνων Ιστορικών Τέχνης, ο Νίκος Χατζηνικολάου είχε θέσει ένα ερώτημα -οντολογικού όσο και ακαδημαϊκού/θεσµικού χαρακτήρα- το οποίο είχε εύλογα συνδέσει με το πρόβλημα "ταυτότητας" των ελλήνων ιστορικών της τέχνης.
