Το 2009 άκουσα στην τηλεόραση ότι, σε εκατό περίπου χρόνια, οι αυτοκρατορικοί πιγκουΐνοι της Ανταρκτικής θα έχουν σχεδόν αποδεκατισθεί εξαιτίας της ανόδου της θερμοκρασίας του πλανήτη μας, γεγονός που θα επιφέρει δυσκολία στις συνθήκες διαβίωσης καθώς και στην επώαση αυτών των πανέμορφων πουλιών. Αναλογίστηκα, τότε, πόσο πολυπληθείς ήταν οι ορχιδέες μας πριν από 20-30 χρόνια! Είναι απίστευτος ο ρυθμός με τον οποίο καταστρέφεται η γη μας κι εξαφανίζονται τα ζώα και τα φυτά μας! Το βιβλίο τελείωσε. Πάνω από τριάντα χρόνια έρευνας και δουλειάς συμπυκνώθηκαν στις εξακόσιε...

La Crete et les oiseaux rapaces sont deux choses associees. L' observateur d' oiseaux, qui visite l' ile, est predispose a observer ces oiseaux admirables et imposnts, quisqu' il connait qu' ils existent en abundance et en diversite. En Crete on rencontre toutes les especes diurnes qui existent en Grece et 7 nocturnes. Parmi toutes ces especes. 13 diurnes y nichent, et 7 d' entre elles sont considerees importantes. La Crete constitue pour eux un refuge d' importance vitale.
