Der Hugel der Akropolis (Oberstadt ) nimmt, wie bereits der Name sagt, einen herausragenden Platz uber der Stadt Athen und uber der Ebene von Attika ein. Er erreicht eine Hohe von 156 m uber dem Meeresspiegel, ist naturlich befestigt und besitzt Wasserquellen am Fub des Felsens. Die altesten Spuren menschlicher Prasenz sind am Nord- bzw .am Sudabhang des Felsens entdeckt worden und gehen bis in die neolithische Zeit zuruck (5500-3200 v. Chr.). [...] Im 6. Jh. v.
