Στις αρχές του 1918, όταν μαίνεται ο Α' Παγκόσμιος Πόλεμος και ο Εθνικός Διχασμός είναι στην κορύφωσή του, δύο γερμανικά υποβρύχια διασχίζουν την Αδριατική με διαφορά είκοσι ημερών και αποβιβάζουν μυστικά στις ακτές της Μεσσηνίας από δύο Έλληνες αξιωματικούς το καθένα. Ο Τάκης Τλούπας, καλλιτέχνης-φωτογράφος, γνωστός κυρίως από τη δουλειά του στη Θεσσαλία, επισκέφθηκε το Άγιον Όρος το 1969. Με το οδοιπορικό του απεικόνισε την καθημερινή ζωή των μοναχών, καθώς και τα ιερά κτίσματα. Το οδοιπορικό του Τάκη Τλούπα περιλαμβάνει 115 φωτογραφίες που, πέρα από την καλλιτεχνική τους αξία, αποτελούν ιστορικές μαρτυρίες για τη ζωή στο Άγιον Όρος το 1969, πολύτιμες για τους μελετητές αλλά και το ευρύ κοινό.
