Κοκονάς Νίκος Α.
Ο Νίκος Κοκονάς γεννήθηκε στο Γερακάρι του Ρεθύμνου, ένα από τα κεντρικά σημεία της αντίστασης, στην οποία ο πατέρας του είχε διαδραματίσει ηγετικό ρόλο. Παρόλο που ήταν σε νεαρή ηλικία, έλαβε μέρος στην τοπική αντίσταση και γνώρισε μερικούς από τους Βρετανούς αξιωματικούς που ενεπλάκησαν στα γεγονότα. Όταν οι Γερμανοί εξαπωλύθηκαν για να συλλάβουν την οικογένεία του, αιχμαλωτίστηκε αλλά αργότερα κατάφερε να δραπετεύσει. Σπούδασε Ιατρική μετά τον πόλεμο και σήμερα είναι ένας από τους κορυφαίους παθολόγους στην Κρήτη.
