Ο Πάτρικ Κάβανα (1904-1967) -μετά από τον W. B. Yeats- θεωρείται ο μεγαλύτερος Ιρλανδός ποιητής του 20ού αιώνα. Αυτό το Λεύκωμα είναι αληθινή αποκάλυψη. Ήδη από το 1962 είχα αρχίσει να φωτογραφίζω πολλά από τα ασπρόμαυρα σχέδια του Μίνου Αργυράκη. Όμως τα μεγάλα έγχρωμα έργα ζωγραφικής του μου ήταν άγνωστα μέχρι την εποχή της Χούντας, τότε που ο εξόριστος ζωγράφος τα 'φερε στην Κοπεγχάγη. Πιστεύω ότι ακριβώς αυτές οι ζωγραφικές είναι τα καλύτερα έργα του Μίνου. Πίνακες, όπως η υπέροχη γυναίκα με τον κόκκινο ήλιο πάνω από την αιώνια ελληνική θάλασσα· όπως το μενεξεδί δέντρο κοντά στο ουράνιο τόξο· όπως το όραμα του Αργυράκη που αιχμαλωτίζει τα τραγούδια του Μάνου Χατζιδάκι με μοναδ...

Με πόνο ψυχής, αλλά και με δίκαιη οργή, διάβασα τον δεύτερο τόμο της "Τριλογίας" της Άμυ Μιμς-Σιλβερίδη, με τίτλο "Ο θησαυρός της Χέλεν Σάλλιβαν". Στο επίκεντρο βρίσκουμε την τραγική περίπτωση του μεγαλόπνοου βιβλίου που η Σάλλιβαν συνέγραψε επί χρόνια - αρχίζοντάς το στην εποχή του Ισπανικού Εμφυλίου Πολέμου και τελειώνοντας το στη δεκαετία του Μακαρθισμού. Για μας τους Έλληνες, αυτό το βιβλίο (που δυστυχώς, δεν είδε ακόμη το φως της ημέρας) έχει ιδιαίτερη σημασία, επειδή αν διαβάσουμε προσεχτικά την παλαιότερη ιστορία της αέναης αντίστασης του ισπανικού λαού, θα μπορέσουμ...

Ο τόμος συγκεντρώνει την αναλυτική, επεξεργασμένη και τεκμηριωμένη μορφή των τριάντα τριών εισηγήσεων οι οποίες παρουσιάστηκαν στο Διεθνές Συνέδριο, με τίτλο "Ο ποιητής και ο πολίτης Γιάννης Ρίτσος", το οποίο οργάνωσε το Μουσείο Μπενάκη, από τις 28 Σεπτεμβρίου μέχρι την 1η Οκτωβρίου του 2005. Στις εργασίες του συνεδρίου είχαν επίσης περιληφθεί δύο "στρογγυλά τραπέζια", τα οποία επικεντρώθηκαν (α) στην πρόσληψη του Ρίτσου από σύγχρονους ποιητές και (β) στην αποτύπωση μαρτυριών ανθρώπων που η πορεία τους διασταυρώθηκε με εκείνην του Γιάννη Ρίτσου.
