Οι μελέτες του παρόντα τόμου -ελληνικές και ιταλικές- εξετάζουν τους "ιταλισμούς" που απαντούν στην ελληνική γλώσσα και σε διάφορες ποικιλίες της, όπως η αργκό, η λογοτεχνική έκφραση ή τα τοπικά ιδιώματα. Στο πλαίσιο αυτό παρουσιάζονται γλωσσάρια που προκύπτουν από την αποδελτίωση γραπτών ή και προφορικών κειμένων, λογοτεχνικών και μη. Στο βιβλίο αυτό, οργανωμένο εν είδει αλφαβητικά καταχωρισμένων λημμάτων, καταγράφονται κοινόχρηστες λέξεις της αγγλικής γλώσσας οι οποίες καταδεικνύουν την επιρροή που τα Αρχαία Ελληνικά άσκησαν σε αυτήν. Επίσης, παρουσιάζεται με ευσύνοπτο τρόπο η ετυμολογική προέλευση και η σημασιολογική εξέλιξη των λέξεων, όπως και η διαδρομή που αυτές ακολούθησαν, συχνά μέσω της Λατινικής ή άλλων ευρωπαϊκών γλωσσών, μέχρι την ένταξή τους στα Αγγλικά. Το βιβλίο αναδεικνύει τη σημασία της ελληνικής γλώσσας για τη δημιουργία νεολογισμών, που αργότερα πέρασαν ως αντιδάνεια στα Νέα Ελληνικά....
