1st International Conference on Traditional Mediterranean Diet

Book of Proceedings: Mediet 2004: Past, Present and Future: 21-23 April 2004, Athens, Greece

In a world of fast foods, junk foods and other similar "temptations", traditional diets may be only viable alternatives; even though many specialists believe that traditional Mediterranean diets are endangered species. The aim of the Conference was to examine, the origin, evolution, benefits and the state of research on such diets, as well as the potential and problems associated with their survival. More than 220 participants coming from the field of food and nutrition as well as the food industry and the media, attended the 1st International Conference on Mediterranean Diet that was held between the 21st and the 23rd of April 2004, in Athens, Greece.
