Der Hugel der Akropolis (Oberstadt ) nimmt, wie bereits der Name sagt, einen herausragenden Platz uber der Stadt Athen und uber der Ebene von Attika ein. Er erreicht eine Hohe von 156 m uber dem Meeresspiegel, ist naturlich befestigt und besitzt Wasserquellen am Fub des Felsens.
